Artwork Requirements
Everything you need to know about preparing print-ready artwork for the best results.
File Formats Accepted
PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4 with embedded fonts and images. Best for print-ready files.
AI (Adobe Illustrator)
Vector files with outlined fonts or embedded fonts. Ideal for logos and graphics.
PSD (Adobe Photoshop)
Layered files accepted. Flatten layers for best results. Minimum 300 DPI.
TIFF / JPG
High-resolution raster images. JPG must be maximum quality. TIFF preferred for large files.
Resolution Requirements
Minimum 300 DPI
All images and artwork must be at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) at the final print size. This ensures sharp, clear prints without pixelation.
Tip: Images from the internet are typically 72 DPI and are not suitable for print. Always use high-resolution source images.
Bleed Requirements
3mm Bleed on All Sides
Bleed is the area beyond the trim edge of your document. We require 3mm bleed on all sides to ensure no white edges appear after cutting.
Example: For an A5 business card (85mm x 55mm):
- • Final size: 85mm x 55mm
- • With bleed: 91mm x 61mm (add 3mm to each side)
- • Keep important content 3mm inside the trim line (safe zone)
Safe Zone: Keep all important text and logos at least 3mm inside the trim line to avoid them being cut off.
Color Modes: CMYK vs RGB
CMYK
Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key (Black) - the color mode used for printing. Always convert your artwork to CMYK before uploading.
- • Accurate color reproduction in print
- • Required for all print files
- • Convert from RGB in your design software
RGB
Red, Green, Blue - the color mode used for screens. RGB files will produce different colors when printed.
- • Colors will shift when printed
- • Bright colors may appear dull
- • Not suitable for print production
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Missing Bleed
Artwork without bleed may show white edges after cutting. Always include 3mm bleed on all sides.
Low Resolution Images
Images below 300 DPI will appear pixelated in print. Always use high-resolution source images.
RGB Color Mode
RGB files will produce unexpected colors when printed. Convert to CMYK before submitting.
Missing Fonts
Always embed or outline fonts in your PDF. Missing fonts will be substituted, changing your design.
Content Too Close to Edge
Keep all important text and logos at least 3mm inside the trim line (safe zone) to avoid being cut off.
