Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between RGB and CMYK?

RGB (Red, Green, Blue) is used for digital screens and creates colors by adding light. CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black) is used for printing and creates colors by subtracting light with ink. Colors can look different when converted between the two.

Why should I convert to CMYK before printing?

Printers use CMYK ink. If you submit an RGB file, the printer will convert it automatically, which can result in unexpected color shifts. Converting to CMYK yourself ensures you see exactly how colors will print.

What is total ink coverage?

Total ink coverage is the sum of all CMYK values. Most printers recommend a maximum of 300% total ink coverage to prevent ink bleeding and drying issues.

What is Rich Black?

Rich Black is a deeper black achieved by mixing all four CMYK inks (typically C:60 M:40 Y:40 K:80) instead of using pure black (K:100). It produces a richer, darker black for large areas.
