The standard South African business card size is 90mm × 50mm. For print-ready files, add 3mm bleed on all sides (96mm × 56mm total) and keep important text and logos at least 3mm inside the trim edge. To find out whether your own file meets these requirements, use the Artwork Checker.

Order business cardsWhat is the best finish for business cards?
Printulu offers seven business card finishes. Three are lamination: gloss (shiny, vibrant), matt (non-reflective, writable) and soft-touch (velvety, premium feel). Four are corner options: straight cut, two rounded corners (top left and bottom right), two rounded corners (top right and bottom left) or four rounded corners. Which one is best depends on the look you want.

Gloss has a shiny finish that makes colours vibrant. Matt is non-reflective with zero glare and can be written on. Soft-touch adds a velvety, premium feel.

Order business cardsWhat is the difference between cmyk and rgb?
RGB is for screens and produces different colours when printed. CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) is the colour mode for print. Always use CMYK for print artwork and convert RGB files to CMYK before uploading. To find out whether your own file meets these requirements, use the Artwork Checker.
Convert your colours to CMYKWhat is bleed in printing?
Bleed is extra artwork that runs past the trim line, so no white edge shows after cutting. Printulu asks for 3mm on every side. Extend backgrounds and images into it. To find out whether your own file meets these requirements, use the Artwork Checker.
Check your file with the Artwork CheckerWhat is safe zone in printing?
The safe zone is the margin inside the trim edge where important text and design elements should stay so they are not cut off. Keep them at least 3mm from the trim edge. To find out whether your own file meets these requirements, use the Artwork Checker.
Check your file with the Artwork CheckerWhat file format should i send for printing?
Send a PDF if you can. High-resolution JPG, TIFF, PSD and AI files are also accepted. The best print-ready file is a PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4 with fonts and images embedded. Use 300 DPI, CMYK and 3mm bleed. To find out whether your own file meets these requirements, use the Artwork Checker.
Check your file with the Artwork CheckerWhat resolution do print files need to be?
Images need 300 DPI or more at the final print size. Low-resolution images look blurry or pixelated in print, and 72 DPI web images are not suitable. To find out whether your own file meets these requirements, use the Artwork Checker.
Check your file with the Artwork CheckerShould i embed or outline fonts?
Always embed or outline fonts in your PDF. If a font is missing it is substituted, and that changes your design. To find out whether your own file meets these requirements, use the Artwork Checker.

Work out your print sizeHow to prepare print-ready artwork
1. Set up your document
Create your document in CMYK colour mode at 300 DPI with 3mm bleed on all sides. Use standard South African sizes like A4 (210mm × 297mm) or A5 (148mm × 210mm).
2. Embed or outline fonts
Either embed fonts in your PDF or convert all text to outlines/paths. This ensures your fonts print correctly even if the printer doesn't have them installed.
3. Add bleed and safe zone
Extend background colours and images to the bleed edge. Keep all important text and logos at least 3mm inside the trim edge.
4. Export as PDF/X-1a
Export your file as a PDF. Printulu names PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4 with embedded fonts and images as best for print-ready files.
